STEEL TUBE HANDLING LINE - Artech Engineering Inc provided all the "clean sheet" Engineering and
Design for the front end of the this customized tube material handling line. Front end includes squaring
bumper, de-bundler, separation and accumulation conveyor, and walking beam mechanism.
DDAM ANALYSIS OF A NAVY PRESSURE VESSEL
The finite element analysis (FEA) method called
DDAM (Dynamic Design Analysis Method) is used to
qualify Navy equipment for specific shock loading.
Using this method avoids expensive test methods.
Artech Engineering Inc provided all the necessary
documentation and FEA details to meet the detailed
requirement.
AUTOMATION UPGRADE
The assembly to the right is part of a
factory floor upgrade recently completed.
The design was intended to be installed
within an existing line of automation and
integrated within the current control
scheme. Line was started and run off with
minor issues and is now in production.
POWER TRANSMISSION REVIEW AND ANALYSIS
Artech Engineering Inc provides detailed Engineering
Studies of existing power transmission systems.
Reviews include torque determination, implementation
of overload mechanisms, linkage synthesis, and
safety details.

MAKING TEMPORARY ENGINEERING SERVICES PRODUCTIVE FOR YOU
After our recent economic turn down, everyone is left with a new focus on cost control. As new work comes in,
the requirement of how much and how long staff will be needed becomes hard to gauge. Hiring in permanent
staff can become difficult without the confidence the long term requirement is there. An alternate solution can
be temporary staffing or subcontracting, however, making this work for Engineering tasks requires a more
detailed management approach. Here are some tips for making the most of the investment.
- Demand Good Documentation When the project is done, how solid is the documentation?
The issue becomes revisiting the project later and no one is
there to understand what was done. Always demand the project
has complete documentation in the proposal, reports, drawings,
and conclusions.
- Review Reference Material If you are purchasing an upgrade to existing equipment, ask that
you see some type of reference or sample of what you can expect.
Ask several questions and review the project plan.
- Subcontract the Specialties Requirements like specialized Engineering Analysis, Finite Element
Analysis, and Solid Modeling Design are good candidates for
outside help. The overhead of the software cost and the
specialized training can be relieved from your budget. But above all,
the work needs to be done right.

HYDRAULIC SOLUTION FOR FORMING DIES - Artech Engineering Inc provides the detailed
Engineering for the on board hydraulic forming system. Several cylinders are used for providing a controlled
binder force in the first station of a large transfer press. Hydraulics provides a soft initial hit and eliminates
damaging reactions on the press upstroke.
SPECIAL FORK TRUCK -
Using Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
in this application has provided an
optimized structure for loading
a heat treat oven. Areas of stress
and vibration were addressed
in the simulation. Run-off in the
plant was 100% successful.
CYLINDER GUIDE UPGRADE - Multiple upgrades to various
heavy equipment components have been recently released.
This example shows an upgrade to a cylinder guide design.
The new design reduced wear with a better material match.
FAILURE ANALYSIS - Demonstrates the use of classical Engineering Analysis methods combined with
the Finite Element Analysis (FEA) computer simulation capability to determine the root cause of the failure
